Among some of the most sought after technical skills on Elance last quarter were PHP, WordPress, HTML/CSS, graphic design, MySQL, JavaScript and iPhone development. The report notes that mobile progammers are increasingly high demand, with 20% growth in demand for Android developers alone. Job postings for iPad programmers grew 15% over the previous quarter, with iPhone growing 10%. As businesses begin to adapt their desktop Websites for mobile devices and tablets, demand for HTML5 coders has exploded, growing by 48% quarter-over-quarter.For the first time since Elance has been producing these reports, demand for experts in a content mangement system broke the top three skills most-desired by employers. WordPress was the second highest sought-after skill in the list, topped only by PHP. It’s worth noting that these numbers apply to activity on the Elance Website which, while somewhat substantial, is not necessarily a sample that’s representative of any larger economic trends. It’s still interesting nonetheless.last_img
