NBA trade rumors: Suns want no part of Markelle Fultz deal
And yet, Fultz is only 20 years old and a past No. 1 overall draft pick. It’s possible he never becomes a perennial All-Star, but his prime would line up with the timelines of Booker, Deandre Ayton, Josh Jackson and Mikal Bridges. It’s a bit surprising to see Phoenix express zero interest considering the team won’t be good any time soon. (The Suns currently own the worst record in the NBA at 4-23.) If Fultz is available at a cheap price, why not take a shot? Then again, the Suns’ decision-making process hasn’t made a great deal of sense for quite some time. Phoenix hasn’t made the playoffs since 2010, and with the level of competition in the West, the immediate future isn’t all that bright. The Suns could be active during trade season, but don’t expect Fultz to fill the void at point guard — even if low-risk trades for young talent are exactly what the franchise should seek out. The Suns clearly need an upgrade at point guard. Devin Booker shoulders far too much of the offensive burden, and Elie Okobo and De’Anthony Melton simply aren’t good enough at this stage in their careers to be full-time starters. But if Suns supporters feel the answer to their team’s backcourt problem lies in Philadelphia, they should start looking elsewhere. TRADE RUMORS: Is Knicks guard Frank Ntilikina available?Phoenix doesn’t have any interest in acquiring 76ers guard Markelle Fultz, according to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7, despite speculation that Philadelphia could help facilitate a three-team deal with the Suns and Lakers. Los Angeles has reportedly been working on a deal for Trevor Ariza before he becomes eligible to be traded Saturday. There have been a lot of people asking about a trade for Markelle Fultz. I will reiterate that I do not see it. From what I am hearing the Suns have no interest in Fultz, no desire to take on him and any issues he has.— John Gambadoro (@Gambo987) December 11, 2018Fultz’s trade value has never been lower. He is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, and there are plenty of questions about his potential. His shot has been a mess through the first two seasons of his career, and his form will need to be reworked, if not completely rebuilt from scratch.
