‘CONTACT TRACING’ | Search launched for close contacts of Iloilo City’s 1st COVID-19 case

WVMC has allocated 450 beds forconfirmed COVID-19 cases, said Juanico. The two other cases were a man fromBacolod City (first confirmed case in the region) and a man from Jamindan,Capiz. WVSU-MC, among others, will allocate atotal of 212 beds for non-COVID-19 cases from WVMC. According to the World HealthOrganization (WHO), the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness,and dry cough.  Some patients mayhave aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. But it may also be designated as aCOVID hospital in case of an overflow of COVID-19 cases at the WVMC, saidJuanico. On the other hand, she said, thetarget date for transfer to WVMC of severe cases of PUIs from other hospitalsis  March 30. It will gradually free-up its patientbed capacities to reach the 450-bed capacity for COVID-19 cases. “Close contacts” are those providingdirect care with the positive patient without personal protective equipment,those staying in the same closed environment with the positive patient, andthose travelling in close proximity (one meter or less) with the patient in anykind of conveyance within the 14-day period after the onset of symptoms. He assured city residents that safetyprotocols were being followed. Doing the contract tracing is a teamcomposed of representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 andCity Health Office of the city government, according to Dr. Jane Juanico,DOH-6’s focal person for COVID-19.
