He is charged with five counts of rape, one count of attempted rape and one count of aggravated sexual assault at an address in Corbally on the outskirts of the city. Appearing before Limerick District Court during the vacation sittings, the accused man was formally charged at Mayorstone Garda Station. Judge Aeneas McCarthy was told that a number of strict conditions were put forward by the State pending bail being granted. They include that he enter into a bond, stay away from the alleged injured party, obey a curfew and sign on at a designated garda station. The accused is to appear before Limerick District Court again on February 19 after being granted bail. A book of evidence, which is being put together, is due to be served on the accused on that date.
