Watch The Grateful Dead’s Show On This Day In 1986 With One Of The Greatest “Morning Dew”s Ever

first_imgOn March 24th, 1986, the Grateful Dead were smack-dab in the middle of a three-day run at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The energy was palpable from the get-go and not unfounded, as the Dead treated the crowd to an energized first set kicked off by “Alabama Getaway.”The second set was cut shorter than normal, leaving some fans wondering why. Upon leaving the Spectrum, news broke that the U.S. had bombed Libya, which some speculate was the cause of the show being cut short. However, 1986 was a tough year for Jerry. His health was beginning to fail, with him falling into a diabetic coma later in the year in July, which may have also been cause for the shorter performance.Regardless, the show was phenomenal. Everyone was on during the performance, with Jerry bringing the house to tears both during the set one closer, “Box of Rain,” and again with second set closer, “Morning Dew.” Coming out of drums, the lone “Morning Dew” emerged from the cacophony of “Space,” and Jerry’s voice is beyond powerful, imbued with an inner tension and passion that taps straight into the heart. Luckily, full video of the performance has emerged, which you can watch below, as well as audio from the noteworthy show.Grateful Dead – Philadelphia, PA – 3/24/1986[Video: voodoonola]Grateful Dead – Philadelphia, PA – 3/24/1986[Audio: Grateful Dead]Setlist: The Grateful Dead | The Spectrum | Philadelphia, PA | 3/24/1986Set One: Alabama Getaway > Greatest Story Ever Told, Dire Wolf > Little Red Rooster,  Brown Eyed Women, My Brother Esau, Ramble on Rose, El Paso, Box of RainSet Two: Mississippi Half-Step > Man Smart/Woman Smarter, High Time > Lost Sailor > Saint of Circumstance > Drums > Space > Morning DewEncore: Midnight Hourlast_img read more

Gov. Wolf Issues Statement on Injustice, Encourages Pennsylvanians to Keep Each Other Safe

first_img Equality,  Press Release This weekend, throughout Pennsylvania, people are protesting violence and injustice that occurs far too often against people of color. Everyone should speak out because no one should be at risk of harm because of oppression or racism. We have seen these injustices happen in the Commonwealth, and this week, we were all shaken by the murder of George Floyd in Minnesota. As Pennsylvanians protest, I urge everyone involved to be peaceful and to keep each other safe.Throughout the day, my Administration has been in touch with municipalities, and we have offered whatever assistance is needed to keep our communities from suffering from additional violence and pain. Please stay safe, and remember that we all must look out for each other as we seek to make our commonwealth more just and fair for everyone.
